20 May 2019
On May 20th, 2019, 15 employees from the Danish Climate Department in the Danish Ministry of Energy, Utilities and Climate visited Danish Technological Institute to learn more about biorefining.
In connection with an internal office seminar the employees wished to learn more about new climate friendly biotechnologies. Thus, Team Manager Anne Christine S. Hastrup, Center Manager Anne Maria Hansen and Professional Specialist Nikolaj From Petersen were asked to give a presentation on biorefining and a demonstration of the pilot scale biorefinery at Danish Technological Institute in Taastrup.
In the pilot plant they were given a detailed step by step presentation with samples on how biomass is processed and fractionated in order to increase the utilization of side streams from primary resources from e.g. agricultural- and food production and other local, sustainable resources. Through biorefining it is possible to create a higher degree of utilization via cascade utilization, thus an added value of the residues. Examples from the Pro-Enrich project was presented including extracted and dried protein samples.
It was a very knowledge seeking and interested group that visited Danish Technological Institute, which led to a good and lively talk on the topic.
We thank the Climate Department for the visit.
