November 18th and 19th, 2019 the ProEnrich project had its third general assembly meeting in Koper, Slovenia hosted by Innorenew.
Apart from the general information and discussions on the progress of the project lead by DTI, this meeting had a particular focus on exploitation of project results so far in order to get closer to being able to market some of the products that the ProEnrich project is key in identifying. This took the form of several product-focused workshops with the goal of determining market requirements, status on results, economic and life cycle analyses and key exploitable results. The workshops were facilitated by Agro Business Park.
Perhaps the most interesting result came from Natac who presented a Hesperidin enriched product with a purity of 60 % reaching market demand requirements for use in e.g. nutraceuticals. Hesperidin is a flavonoid with antioxidant properties and has been obtained from citrus fruit side-streams.
The attending project parters also visited Marzi Franka – a small olive processing plant – to learn more about side streams from olive processing, including olive pomace and olive pits, and to taste some of the delicious main products.
