On July 6th CHIMAR, Danish Technological Institute, and Food & Bio Cluster Denmark held the Pro-Enrich project’s third pre-market stimulation webinar specifically addressing the adhesives industry.
The topic was the experience from the Pro-Enrich project on replacing petrochemicals with bio-refined rapeseed protein derived from the process residue from biodiesel production from the Danish company Emmelev.
Louise Krogh Johnson from Food & Bio Cluster Denmark moderated the webinar and gave a presentation about the project. Angelica Tamayo Tenorio from Danish Technological Institute told participants about the experiences with protein extraction from rapeseed press cake and how lipid content presented one of the main challenges in connection to use in adhesives. Finally, Eleftheria Athanassiadou & Sophia Tsiantzi from CHIMAR Hellas introduced their company and its long history of innovation in the adhesives industry, and shared project results from the lab and performance tests of plywood panels with resin containing up to 40% rapeseed protein replacing conventional petrochemically derived phenols.
